Intros: Lay of the Land

As a new blogger, I hear one of the traps to fall into is to start writing about ‘just anything’. It makes your blog difficult to follow, because by standing for everything you effectively stand for nothing, and in the words of Alexander Hamilton, if you stand for nothing, Burr, what’ll you fall for?

So, here’s the lowdown on my thrice-weekly updates, on the theme of cavarsela.

Words – Creative writing

First and foremost, I’m a writer of fiction, and personal experiences. I’ll be looking to you, dear reader, to share with you those creations, and to hear your feedback.

Novel: The Inventor – set in a future where the rich, powerful and most successful have managed to separate themselves from the rest in an undersea city. They will be the first to live on Mars.

Short stories and Novelettes: Places we Belong – exploring the concept of ‘belonging’, this collection of twelve stories looks at what it means to belong; describing love, tolerance and ‘fitting in’ through time and space, utopias and dystopias.

Autobiography: How to be Adopted – from birth, through my teenage years and early adulthood, to the search, discovery and formation of some very special and unique relationships.

Styles – Fashion, Travel, Special events

This will be the ‘getting away with it’ side of the blog. I’ll be sharing with you some of my great finds, including online sellers and hidden gems (pun intended) for accessories and quirky clothing, nail art ideas (I do mine myself), fantastic travel spots found while globetrotting, and special events in and around London.

Reasons – Home, Health, Personal Accountability

Sundays are a good day to reflect and set new goals, so this day seemed like a good one for the other side of cavarsela; coping with life in the Big City. I’ll be looking at surviving sharing in a small London flat, managing health, fitness, and mental health, and taking responsibility – that is, being a person of my word, to myself and everyone else – to achieve happiness and wholeness.

Next up: it’s Reasons, so I’ll be starting by uniting all three concepts in a post I’ll be calling, “Only Joy“.
